Eric J. Miller: Unstable, Unreliable, Untrustworthy, and Unethical

I contacted Eric Miller specifically because of his AV-rating on Martindale. I regret it deeply. Here is what happened to me: He offered me a hybrid fee structure after I told him I couldn't afford full payment upfront. I accepted within a reasonable time. He then withdrew those terms, citing "...new clients," and demanded full payment upfront - terms he knew I could not afford. When I pointed out this was effectively refusing my business, he ignored his own unethical conduct and gaslighted me by saying my response to him withdrawing his offer is why he didn't want my business. But here's the thing: I am not alone. Another reviewer on Lawyers.com documented the exact same pattern: "This lawyer engaged in forum shopping in a case where he represented an alleged child groomer living in Israel. He filed a lawsuit asking for prior restraint and $10,000,000 in damages. He claimed the case had to be heard in Miami because the Defendant lived in Miami—the only connection. Before the hearing he quit the case with no plausible explanation, leaving his clients to clean up his mess. The case he authored was dismissed. He offered no compensation to the Defendant who spent over $12K fighting this frivolous case, then bragged that if he were to be sued he knows all the Judges." Read that again. He abandoned his own clients mid-case. He left them holding the bag. He bragged about knowing judges. Now look at what he did to me: made promises, pulled them when something "better" came along, and blamed me for reacting. This is not a one-time mistake. This is a pattern. He is unstable. He is unreliable. He is untrustworthy. And he is unethical. He will use you until he doesn't need you anymore, then discard you and make it your fault. Do not trust this man with your case. I wish I had seen the other review before I wasted my time.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
