Hired John McHugh after my Dad passed away and the office did outstanding work on the estate and subsequent real estate sale. Pricing was fixed, so there was no possibility of billing inflation or little side fees that end up costing you. It is always possible that an attorney will skin you on estate... work with percentages or time based billing (we've heard horror stories). Be careful of that and know that John is upstanding, value conscious, and really knows his subject area. He's also easy to speak with and doesn't try to confound or dazzle you with legalese.

This lawyer prepared my mother's will in 2003. One month after my mother's death in December 2010 I began calling to obtain a copy of my mothers will. Two calls over the course of three weeks received no response. On my third try I got a staff member who acknowledged receiving my calls but said no... one had notified them of my mother's death. I informed them that I had informed them. They then said they would E-mail me a copy of the will. When after several days I did not receive it, I was told that I needed to provide them a copy of the Death Certificate. Paid the county for the certificate and mailed it, along with my birth certificate, requesting the will. Three weeks later I have received no response. Called today and was told that they received the request and have not yet determined if they would be sending a will they had twice told me would be forthcoming. Would you want your family to have to deal with these cold, unresponsive, and unprofessional people after your death?
