Heim prepared my parents wills/trusts as my father had a terminal illness and we wanted to ensure all their affairs were in order. He charged a ridiculous sum and made their trusts beyond complicated. When my father passed away 5 years later we called on him to determine what was required to transfer... assets, etc. Heim prayed on my mother in her time of grief, telling her he would manage the trust for $20,000 a year. The trust was not that large or complicated but he scared her...we let him know that his services would not be necessary. A year later, my mother was diagnosed with cancer and wanted to make sure her affairs were more simply and suitably settled so we saw an attorney up north. He started over on the trust as he mentioned that the original Heim trust was way more complicated than was needed. Now, a few years later, we went to do an exchange on a property and come to find out Heim had included a clause that said should my father pass, he did not want my mother to handle his trust. How insulting as they were life partners and he knew no one would handle his affairs the way he wanted better than she. They shared everything, including a single bank account. Heim made their trusts so overly and unnecessarily complicated that they missed that clause in their review. My suggestion to anyone looking for an estate planner...skip Heim and continue looking.
