Billie Jo Hopwood

Throughout the past 15+ years, Ms. Hopwood has worked as a family law attorney, assisting thousands of clients with their divorces, child custody and child support matters, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, etc. Attorney Hopwood merges her knowledge of the law and her empathy for her clients to strategically pursue the best possible outcome in hearings, trials and settlements.

Since Billie Jo Hopwood graduated from Eau Gallie High School in 1985, she has assisted thousands of people with their legal matters. She began her career as a legal secretary right in 1985 and while working as a Legal Secretary/ Paralegal, she dual enrolled at Brevard Community College and University of Central Florida. Billie Jo got a head start on her law career and learned as much as she could on the job and in her legal classes at UCF. Billie Jo earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies in 1990.

Although Billie Jo was able to serve her passion of helping people with their legal matters as a paralegal, in 2005 she decided to pursue a law degree. Despite being a divorced mother of two small children, Billie Jo demonstrated outstanding academic performance in law school, graduating magna cum laude in 2008. Billie Jo also served on Law Review for one year, based on her eligibility as one of the top students.

Billie Jo clerked for and began her career as an associate attorney at a local lawfirm where she represented clients with personal injury claims. While working as an associate attorney, Billie Jo began and started building a family law practice. In 2011 Ms. Hopwood became a partner and shareholder in her previous firm where she has practiced until recently going out on her own.

Attorney Hopwood is an experienced family law trial lawyer. Billie Jo has handled hundreds of contested family law trials and hearings over the past 15+ years as a family law litigator. She has handled cases which results in settlements for thousands of clients who have avoided the battle in the courtroom and hefty legal fees because of Ms. Hopwood’s extensive knowledge of the law and experience. Since 2019 Ms. Hopwood has been a Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. Ms. Hopwood is able to work as a mediator in addition to representing clients in contested and uncontested family law matters. Family Law Mediators facilitate and encourage the parties to discuss resolution and negotiate their own outcome.

Ms. Hopwood is also trained to handle Collaborative Divorces. In the Collaborative Divorce process Attorney Hopwood serves as a settlement lawyer for her client in a process which is transparent, interest based and negates the courtroom battle.
