You would probably be better off contacting an accountant. Most tax attorneys do not handle smaller tax issues like dependency deductions.

A power of attorney always expires upon the death of the principal. You should contact law enforcement in the area if your facts are correct.

A POD bank account is not a probate asset but if there is a probate attorney engaged then I would recommend that you contact that attorney.
