Juan Antonio Lozada-Leoni

I am an attorney with significant experience in both litigation and  immigration law.  I have served as an immigration law attorney as well as a criminal and civil litigator in Texas.   I am also CAMS certified (Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist) and worked as a Sr. Manager for Regional Compliance for one of the largest money transfer companies in the world. 

I was recognized with several U.S. and foreign awards during my decade long military career. During my last active duty assignment, I led efforts to develop operational law capacity among commanders and their legal advisers in partner nation armies. In that job and over a period of 32 months, I worked on several multi-national projects to strengthen the military justice systems in the region. 

Successes included primary responsibility for helping to create a yearly Inter-American Forum of Military Justice leaders, assisting several Latin American armies in developing their operational law capacity, conducting comprehensive assessments of human rights compliance systems in at least five Latin American countries and training hundreds of military officers throughout Latin America.

Colleagues and supervisors know me as an effective leader, a very competent litigator as well as a subject matter expert in international human rights and AML/CTF compliance. I can (and often do) work well alone but I’m at my best collaborating or leading teams of experienced professionals.

I am fluent in Spanish, proficient in Portuguese, hold a JD from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, an LLM in International Law from the University of Houston, an MA in International Relations from Saint Mary’s University and a BA in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
