Richard Ellis Whitaker

Richard E. Whitaker is an honors graduate from the Florida State University College of Law with an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell who brings over thirty years of experience handling a wide and diverse range of legal matters including complex litigation, bankruptcy, business and commercial cases, multi-million dollar disputes in construction, contract-related and insurance matters, and litigation of disputes relating to employment, eminent domain, trucking and transportation, Uniform Commercial Code, mortgage foreclosure, real estate and probate matters.  Mr. Whitaker has personally handled cases throughout Florida, from Key West to Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Pensacola.  He has litigated significant cases in numerous state and federal courts in the Southeast, Northeast and Midwest sections of the United States. Mr. Whitaker has personally handled appeals in most of the Florida District Courts of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court.

Mr. Whitaker started his career in 1986 at a boutique bankruptcy law firm in Tampa where he gained substantial knowledge and experience in litigating cases involving federal and state laws governing insolvency and creditors rights.  In 1988, Mr. Whitaker moved to Orlando where he spent the next 12 years practicing construction and bankruptcy litigation at the oldest and largest full service law firm in Central Florida, and later as the head of the commercial litigation department of a large statewide firm where he was responsible for all significant commercial litigation matters, especially those involving construction and contract disputes and eminent domain. In 2000, Mr. Whitaker opened his own law office when he established Richard E. Whitaker, P.A. Since opening the firm, Mr. Whitaker continues to use the knowledge and experience he has gained over 3 decades representing individuals, small, medium and large Fortune 500 companies to the benefit of his clients.
