Not Guilty on All Counts — Highway Shooting and Self-Defense
Feb 27, 2026OUTCOME: Result: Complete acquittal on all charges following a jury trial.
Our client faced a 25-year mandatory minimum prison sentence following a highway shooting in which another driver was struck in the leg. The charges included aggravated battery causing great bodily har ... m with a firearm, shooting from a vehicle, and shooting into a vehicle. We defended the case at trial on the grounds of self-defense. A critical issue was the other driver’s description of the shooting. Although he claimed his vehicle’s window was closed, our expert presented testimony demonstrating that the window could not have been closed when the shooting occurred. That testimony challenged a key part of his account. After hearing the evidence and the defense’s arguments, the jury returned NOT GUILTY verdicts on every count.
