William Bill Barnett

I happened to see the other poor review for Mr. Barnett and I just shook my head. It all sounded so familiar. He clearly was a big time burned out attorney only interested in the money. I put up well over $13K retainer with him and all my trust during a very devastasting, crucial turning point in m...y life. He could not have cared less. It was all about the money. As the other poster commented, he also talked on the phone with others while I sat at his desk in need of a focused conversation and real help. Even his young adult family came by to "see Daddy" to get money, all during my appointment time. He was a lot of talk but the case was going nowhere. Nothing was proceeding. Thousands of dollars I had paid him and he never even got a deposition accomplished on my ex-husband! $13,000 and no deposition, no court, no mediation, nothing tangible. That was over 20 years ago and I will never forgive or forget. He was neither assertive, aggressive, defensive, or proactive in my case. Professionally and personally, he was not sincere, caring or respectful of the emotions or cost to me as a client. I was scared and feeling shocked when I hired him. BUT he was charmingly dismissive, patting me on the back and sending me on my way. Truly, he could not have cared less. Of course I never got any of the retainer back either when I literally had to hire another lawyer due to his non-performance.. He was sure to account for time to justify keeping the money I gave him. I have seen him in town a few times. He does not even acknowlege me. All in all, my trusted attorney, Mr. Barnett, did me a terrible injustice.
