Michael Glenn Finnell

Michael has been practicing in the Gainesville area since graduating from the University of Florida with a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Taxation. His practice is focused on federal and state tax controversy as well as a wide variety of tax related issues such as estate tax planning and structuring charitable organizations. Michael earned his JD, magna cum laude, from Washington and Lee University in Virginia where he had the opportunity to represent clients in both a low income taxpayer clinic and a general civil practice clinic. 

Michael was drawn to tax law because it is complex and requires intricate legal analysis while still being widely applicable to many different kinds of clients. Local small businesses and many individuals can benefit greatly from sophisticated legal representation that may generally only be considered necessary for the largest corporations or the wealthiest people. Getting to provide that kind of representation in a small local firm setting makes this job worthwhile and enjoyable.
