I grew up in a small town in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. I moved to Kissimmee, Florida with my family when I was in high school. I attended the University of Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Economics with Honors in 1999. I then entered law school at the University of Florida, and graduated in 2002.
During law school, I clerked for Peter A. Robertson & Associates, P.A. a construction law firm in Gainesville and also interned with General Master Stuart Suskin, observing workers' compensation mediations. Following graduation I joined the firm of McConnaughhay, Duffy, Coonrod, Pope & Weaver, P.A., at that time, one of the largest Workers’ Compensation defense firms in Florida, as an associate. At the McConnaughhay firm, I represented many large employers, insurance carriers and servicing agents. During my time at the McConnaughhay firm, I obtained valuable insight into how employers and insurance companies view and handle workers' compensation claims. I also learned a great deal from some very knowledgeable and experienced attorneys.
In 2005, I decided to start my own law office and opened Bryce A. Schmidt, P.A. Since that time, I have represented many individuals in various workers' compensation, personal injury, car accident, general civil litigation, and chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. I am very proud of the fact that I am a solo practitioner, and that I am the only one who works on the cases of clients who come to my office. I believe that personal service is very important in this profession, and that each client deserves direct access to their attorney. It is my goal to give each and every client honest, ethical, thorough, and effective representation.
In 2018, I accepted the position of Senior Attorney/State Mediator in the Office of the Judge of Compensation Claims - Gainesville District. I exclusively mediate workers' compensation cases filed in the Division of Administrative Hearings, attempting to either resolve claims that have been filed, or possibly to resolve cases overall in global settlement.

"Exceptional Attorney"
Needing an attorney is something we hope we will never need, but can be necessary in life. Typically, I am a person of few words, but I could write a book on the honesty, ethics, passion, compassion, integrity, knowledge, persistence, wisdom, and client dedication of Attorney Bryce Schmidt. Above all...
"Bryce is always well prepared in every mediation that I have worked with him on. He has an excellent command of the Florida workers' compensation law and strives to obtain the best possible results for his clients. He is extremely ethical and compassionate about each and every one of his clients."
"Bryce is an excellent workers' compensation attorney who will fight the insurance company on behalf of his clients."
