Please don’t waste your money or time this is a shady tree lawyer

Hired him only a month and a half ago, for my 15year old son.paid almost all of my retainer of $5,000 in a short period of time. $3,000 to be exact only had $2,00 left to pay @$500 every 2 weeks. Only time he seems to want to meet is when it’s time to make a payment. Never could get 30 min of his tim...e I always pay a go. Can maybe get a question or 2 in and it’s always vague answers. So an upcoming payment came about. He wanted me to come by and just drop off. He had some where else to be. Told him I needed to talk to him. Just wanted some clarity, clear communication, questions on what have he done so far, what does he plan to do, why haven’t you filed any motions nor is the case moving paid him almost all his money. Told him I didn’t want to just pay and go I really needed an update. Really asked him that several times especially after he had the discovery for a while, you know what’s your defense. Really just advocating for my son who’s a minor and in jail.Told him when he has time to talk I do have my money. He got mad at me like I didn’t want to pay. Literally went to the jail faster than he ever have to have my son sign a document, a minor, alone and in jail. My son called me after the visit. Said he didn’t explain to him what he was signing. Him and his secretary Chanda just told him sign it. In a nasty, demanding way so he did not knowing any better. I demanded in several professional emails a copy of what my child signed, his files, and itemized billing statement about my money I’ve paid again almost all of it in one month, basically a refund. I know $3,000 doesn’t account for nothing if he’s done nothing. I got no response which is fine I’m filing complaints with the FL bar. Chanda his assistant is his eyes, because he’s blind but she was always in the case business. Saying things she shouldn’t know or have an input at all when she not a lawyer. She always made my son feel very uncomfortable the 2 times John did go see him in the jail. He reminds me of a shady tree mechanic especially if you’re a woman and alone he just takes your money. His quality of work had me questioning is he a competent lawyer. He’s not very well spoken just ABC, 123,. I know he’s blind but he act like he can’t talk. I felt like I was doing more work than him with my son case. Chanda even try to play my son an audio comparing his co defendant voices to his accusing my son of that being him. It was concerning I thought only experts can analyze voices and only his lawyer suppose to speak with him of things like that. He don’t try to defend you or negotiate aggressively. Told me one day he talked with the state. I’m literally thinking they had a talk over lunch or something about my son case. This man printed me a email he asked the state a one sentence question. What can his client do for a reduced sentenced. I was so scared I paid you all this money for that. We want a dispute, a fight, I hired him for defense not to cop out. Long story short all because I wanted answers, clear communication fighting for my 15 year old son charged as an adult in the county jail. Soons I finally speak up he withdrew from his case. Truth be told it was a relief, I didn’t think he had my son best interest at heart.I just lost money that I will be fighting for. I wouldn’t recommend John for NOBODY. I’ve heard several stories on how he’ll take your money, do no fighting and withdraw if you say something he don’t like I just tried to trust him. I couldn’t believe I experienced exact what people told me about him.

Terrible lawyer

John Ramsey is not a good lawyer, will just take your money, promises to do the work he was hired to do but does NOTHING!!!, no meetings, no updates, hard to contact about your case, but will always expect payment…I would not recommend him, he will just take your money, make false promises, it would ...be a waste of thousands of dollars!!!! When someone expects updates he gets mad and threatens to withdraw from cases and keep your money!!!

John Ramsey is not a good lawyer he can't across very pleasant at first & quickly became very easily irritable not speaking to his client nor the client's representative nor persons that paid out finances to help the client. He only got one offer by the States Attorney & expected the family of the cl...ient to do the leg work & find witnesses to do depositions. He spoke rudely, used foul language & did not help his client in any manner that should have taken the amount of money that he required. If anyone chooses him as their future representative they are making a terrible mistake. He really needs to retire & give up his day job. I am entitled to my personal opinion like anyone else.

Hopefully my review would save someone the headache. Mr. Ramsey comes across as very pleasant, but he has another side. While incarcerated, I hired him to represent me in 2 cases. The first day I was arrested my family took him the money to represent me. After not speaking with him in over 30 days an...d call being declined, I had my bondsman do a 3 way call. He did not answer, but returned the call within 5 mins. My bondsman explained my frustration and Mr. Ramsey got upset. He proceeded with calling the association and having my bondsman’s calls blocked from the jail house. He also called my Children’s father and told him that he believed my bondsman and I were having relations. He then decided to send me a letter in the mail stating he was withdrawing from one of my cases. I ended up spending way more time in jail because of him not communicating and his unprofessionalism. After almost 4 months in jail, I fired him. I got another attorney and was free at my next court date. His reputation is horrible. It was shocking to hear about all the bad experiences the inmates had with him. I’m shocked that he’s still able to practice after so many complaints. Beware

Just plain sad

I came to John for my divorce from my husband. I met with him twice for a total of one hour. We never got into details pertaining my case. He did reply to a summons I had, that was it! Me and my husband decided to agree on everything and drawled up papers with his lawyer. Before I had the chance ...to talk with John, he called me and left two rude messages stating that "I was in the wrong for not consulting him first, and that me and my husbands agreement was null and void because he wasn't involved (btw its preceding just fine), and also that he didn't know what me and my husband was up to!" Well last time I checked he worked for me!! I never been divorced and didn't know the correct protocol for lawyer etiquette, but I thought this was my divorce to handle as I see fit, and also last time I checked its not illegal to change my mind during a divorce! (Actually quite common). He has now delayed my divorce, stressed me out during this rough time in my life, and is taking ME to court to get $5k when he didn't do $5k worth of work. Now mind you I don't have a problem giving him $500, because that is worth the time he put in my case. Honestly he is not even worth a dollar! I guess he is so money hungry or either broke being he has put more energy against me then he did for my case. He is a rude, harassing attorney that should retire,. I warned you.
