Crisis Alleviated

Upon receiving a summons I was in shock. After settling down to read the document I noted the deadline. I had twenty days to reply to the judge or the court judge would decide everything. Not knowing how to respond I started looking for a divorce/family law attorney. I found Steve Gilpatrick and ...gave the office a call. His extremely friendly staff started the process. I was provided a free consultation within two days from the initial call. I met with Steve and within 20 minutes I was at ease. He explained things so simply and in layman’s terms. What was required of myself and the deadlines to be met to not offend the court. I was also provided a sample billing statement showing what the charges and fees associated with my case would amount to per month. He told me the things I should not do as the process went and the things I needed to do to help myself through the ordeal. Providing documents in a timely manner and helping his staff, Brooke and Bria, by being organized and thorough in my efforts resulted in minimal costs and heartache until we got to the end without ever visiting the court. It couldn’t have been easier. Retaining Mr Gilpatrick as my attorney was a great decision.

Poor performance

I hired Steve to do a simple change of venue motion. My ex wife filed a bogus suit in another county and since I have custody of all three children I hired Steve to first win the change of venue since we had been living here with the children for several years, and then subsequently to take the case ...after the venue change. I hired Steve because I had heard he was good. Steve ignored my emails but charged me for reading them (evidently a malpractice claim in itself). He was totally unprepared for the change of venue hearing and got his ass kicked. I had to hire a new lawyer to take over this case and he still can't believe how poorly Steve did. It was an easy win but he failed. Steve is a nice guy but he doesn't give a damn about his clients. It's a paycheck and nothing more.

Aaron, I was surprised to know that you felt your representation from me went this way. When your case was over back in June, although I knew and understood you were disappointed with the outcome, I was unaware that you were dissatisfied in any way with my representation. The last correspondence I received from you said "Thanks for all your help and efforts on our behalf". In any case, I wish you had come to me about your concerns so that we could have addressed them together. Unfortunately in family law cases, which can often be very emotional, the relationship between the attorney and their clients is a delicate balance. In my 25 years of practicing law, I have always strived to maintain a positive relationship with each and every client so I am truly sorry to hear you felt this way.
