Biography
Van practices primarily in the areas of taxation, trusts and estates, and corporate law. He represents clients regularly in IRS tax controversies and also works in the areas of tax exempt organizations and employee benefits, including qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation planning. Van holds a Master of Tax Law (LL.M.) degree in addition to his J.D. and has an A.V. rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Van served as an Adjunct Professor of Tax Law at Florida State University College of Law from 1996 to 2003 and is a former member of the Executive Council, Tax Section, of the Florida Bar.
A native of Pensacola, Florida, Van returned home to join Emmanuel, Sheppard & Condon in 2012 after practicing in Tallahassee for 30 years. He now resides full-time in the firm’s new office in the Miramar Beach-Sandestin area, but is available as well in the Pensacola and Tallahassee offices.
