Worst experience and waste of time and money

Hired Mr. Gilbert in a criminal case and it was a nightmare. He was paid in full upfront. He didn't do anything he said he would do. He refused to file motions and seemed to be working with the Prosecutor instead of working for me. When I emailed him about my concerns his response was, "I'm tired of ...dealing with racist clients with buyers remorse, just because I don't jump up and down on top of my desk like a monkey doesn't mean I'm not doing my job?" If I had a problem with his race I would have never paid him thousands of $$ to represent me. After months of doing absolutely nothing he withdrew from my case, since that time I have spoken with others (black and white) that had the same experience. Mr. Gilbert is currently being sued for Legal Malpractice, 5 recent cases for failure to pay his debts, just last week he was evicted from his Law Office for failure to pay his rent (all are public records and can be seen on the Clerk of Courts website). I hope other victims read this and decide to fight back with Florida Bar Complaints and I hope those looking for reviews reads this and makes a wiser choice than I did!

Fought hard for me, after my auto accident!

In 2010 I was in a car accident where I was t-boned. I was hoping to take on the insurance company alone until they kept giving me the run around, and offered me basically grocery money. I contacted MR. Gilbert and explained the situation, he informed me that insurance companies can be tricky, and so...metimes to get the best results it takes a little time in which it did. I Even gotten frustrated because it seems as if he wasn't doing anything.. I was back working, basically forgot about the case. But instead of the $2000 the insurance company was offering he was able to recover 10k for my hardship and injuries. And all I can remember is Mr. Gilbert telling me just to be patient, glad I took his advice and happy I chose the Gilbert Firm to represent me in my time of need! I surely would recommend Mr. Gilbert to anyone looking for quality legal counsel... And come to find out he's really active in his community inwhich is a plus, because it shows he really cares!!!! Thanks a lot Mr.GILBERT for you services!!

*****BEWARE******

The initial meeting with Mr. Gilbert went very well. We discussed our concerns about my son's case as well as our expectations of him if we hired him. The following day (Oct. 17) he was paid $5,000. And it has been downhill from that very moment. My son had an upcoming Pre-trial on Nov. 1, and a... Bond Reduction Hearing on Nov. 3, he assured us he didn't have any conflicts with those dates. On Oct. 31, I received a call from his office stating, " he had to be in Trial in Pensacola on Nov. 1, he couldn't understand why I would be upset, "it wasn't a big deal because nothing ever happens at PT??" He was a "NO SHOW" for my son's hearing. On Nov. 2, @ 5:40 PM he called my son's G mother to inform her that the Bond Reduction Hearing had been cancelled (WE HAD WAITED SIX WEEKS FOR THIS HEARING) per the request of the Prosecutor, because she wanted to MEET with him to discuss the case before going in front of the Judge. BOTH of these excuses were BLATANT LIES. I WASTED my time going behind him checking his stories, that's not what we hired him for!!?? That's not what I signed up for!!!! I called him out each time I caught him lying and he would yell and curse me like he paid US to be his Client's?? He has refused to file motions while the State cont. to violate the Brady Rules. He discusses the case with the SA, He has made it abundantly clear to the her through his conversations as well as his actions towards us, that he has no respect for us. So why would she abide by the Law?? He even discusses the painfully dreadful Atty/Client relationship that we have with her. It's obvious that they are in collusion or either he's horrified of her???? If and when you can catch him in town and you have an appt. be prepared to sit and wait 1-1 1/2 hours before he does you a favor by meeting with you for 15-20, then his employee will knock about 5 minutes into meeting to remind him that he has to get on the road!!!! If you are looking for an Attorney that is going to relieve your stress, is HONEST, ETHICAL and HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST....DO NOT HIRE Mr. Gilbert.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I met Mr. Gilbert a few years ago and he immediately struck me with his commitment to his community. Very few lawyers care so deeply about the community they serve. His passion for his clients is second to none and his work ethic is extremely impressive. It is no surprise that Mr. Gilbert has been recognized by various organizations across this State for his advocacy skills and work ethic. I wholeheartedly endorse Mr. Gilbert and would recommend anyone in the Florida Panhandle to seek his services if they are ever in need."
