Ryan Michael Garrett

Ryan M. Garrett is a Partner at Butler Pappas.
Ryan focuses his practice on third party liability defense. He has litigated automobile negligence, products liability, toxic mold, and contractor liability claims, as well as professional negligence, administrative licensing issues, challenges to administrative rulemaking by professional boards, and recovery of alleged Medicare overpayments. He has tried cases in the civil, administrative, and securities arbitration arenas.

Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Saint Leo College in 1991, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Florida State University in 1994. Prior to attending law school, Ryan served with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa, Florida, from 1981 to 1992, where he was ultimately assigned to the Homicide Unit of the Special Investigations Division. While serving with the Sheriff's Office, he received specialized training in major case/inter-agency investigations and forensic anthropology, as well as the investigation of homicides, sex crimes, and boating accidents.

Ryan is licensed to practice in all Florida courts, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida. He previously served as a board member and President of the Young Lawyers Section of the Tallahassee Bar Association, and with the Marketing Subcommittee of the Young Lawyers Section of the Defense Research Institute. He has appeared as a guest speaker on trial techniques, law enforcement liability, and search and seizure, at Florida State University, Barry University, and before Tallahassee civic organizations. He is state certified as an instructor in general liability and adjuster optional courses.
