Paula Ann Willis

Health Law, also referred to as "health care   law" is my passion, and it has been my professional calling for most of my 25-year   legal career.  Because several of my family members are health care professionals, I gained early entrance into the legal issues which are unique to the health care industry and which can affect the manner by which medical services are delivered to patients and reimbursed by private payers or public health care programs. 

Since graduation from the University of Florida College of Law in 1987, I have practiced in many areas of law, for example from criminal prosecution to family and business law; however, throughout the years, I have maintained a steady and evolving presence in the field of health law. In 2007, I became Board Certified in Health Law by the Florida Bar and the following year I was honored to accept a 5-year appointment to serve on the Florida Bar Health Law Certification Committee, where I served as Chair Person during the 2012-2013 term. 

Since attaining Health Law Certifiation, I have achieved additional health industry specialty certifications in Health Care Compliance; Health Care Risk Management, and Fraud Examination (emphasis in health care).  I also had the pleasure of serving the State of Florida, as an attorney health care regulator for approximately 7 years.  Following my service to the state, I founded FLORIDA HEALTH LAW ATTORNEY (FHLA), headquartered in Tallahassee, Florida, and serving health care providers from North to South Florida.  Through FHLA, I direct my full attention to helping and representing health care professionals throughout the state of Florida and also in other areas.  I harness all my practice experiences, regulatory insights and specialty trainings for helping and representing my health care clients.  I represent health care professionals in numerous matters, such as licensing defense, Medicare-Medicaid matters, business formations and transactions, compliance programs, state and federal self-referral and kickback issues, facility operations and risk management, and in many other matters relevant to heatlh care professionals, to include administrative, civil and criminal litigation.
