It sounds like it is a little late to be asking the advice of an attorney.

An EAD is for 1 year or 2 years but may only be granted and is only valid when you have a valid visa.

I agree with attorney Fleischer. Your visa should be extended if the primary was extended. You should have an attorney monitoring both of your visas.
