I agree with my colleague. You should have a valid visa that entitled you to the EAD and government issued photo Id in addition to the visa.

Re entry after being deported - regardless of VD - is and can result in a federal felony charge. I strongly suggest you work with an attorney.

How old was your husband when he entered the USA? Was he under the age of 16? If so he may qualify for DA.
He is not eligible to adjust status...
