Our firm has defended hundreds of juvenile cases. A juvenile case in North Florida, if serious enough in the mind of the designated state attorney, can, with one piece of paper, be turned in a case in adult felony court with corresponding adult punishment and lifelong damage to any career aspirations. The serious charges we defend in juvenile court are usually sex crimes, robberies and shootings.

Just was lazy with my case.

Personally I like the guy. But from a professional review as an attorney in "my" case he was terrible. After finding out months later, I had a very good chance of getting a plea bargain mainly because it was a first time offense and the DA didn't have hard evidence, it was one manager's word agains...t mine. For a first time offense my attorney settle for a guilty conviction. He didn't try and if he did, he didn't try hard enough. He knew my profession and he knew it would possibly cause major issues for me down the road. I explained to him what I was going back to school for. He should of told me "look we need to try really hard to get this reduced or dismissed" Anything would of been better than what he did. Which was NOTHING. Nothing was reduced, not even the fines. He knew he did pretty much nothing as a public defendant could of done the SAME performance as him and if I had to do it over again I definitely would of went with a PA. He had my hrs off my community service slightly reduced BIG DEAL. Maybe not a refund but at least do the right thing and give me a partial refund and I'm being really serious. This guy had to know how this could affect me down the road. He put very little effort into my case. I completely regret using his terrible services. There was other options that were definitely available and he knew it. After talking to other attorneys later on about what I could do, seal expunge etc. A good attorney would of worked with the DA a lot harder and had it dismissed, or had it reduced to a less charger. He seemed afraid of the DA. Shame on you Ray Forbess.

This review does not bring any certain case to mind. If you would please contact my office at 904-634-0900 we will pull the file and have you in for a review of the case. We keep very accurate records of every step we take in a case. It sounds as if your arrest has caused you career problems and we are, other than making sure our client does no jail or prison time, always aware of the damage a criminal record can cause to clients. We have represented clients from the high school senior wanting to join the military to those with established careers such as doctors, fellow lawyers, teachers, nurses, pilots, police officers, physical therapists, software engineers, IT supervisors and our largest category, career military personnel who can have their career and pension derailed by an arrest. Again, if you could please come in for a review, we can go over, step by step, why you were arrested, what you were charged with, how the state attorney was going to try and prove the charges, review the different options we had on the case as it unfolded, go over what the state attorney's comments were during negotiations( maybe that would explain why we received a conviction as opposed to a withhold of adjudication as sometimes something from the past can cause the state attorney to dig in and insist on the adjudication). Personally, as a professional, I would like you to understand why the case resolved in the manner it did as opposed to having a jury trial. If you desire to come in, feel free to have any of the attorneys you met with attend the review also. I would encourage that. If something can be done to help you, it needs to be done. thank-you Ray Forbess, Sr.

"I endorse this lawyer's work. I have worked with criminal attorney Ray Forbess since 2004. His work in the area of criminal defense in Jacksonville is second to none. Ray has a diverse work history, beginning in the U.S. Army. Ray was in Special Forces and the Rangers. After the Army, Ray owned several businesses. He has been a practicing criminal defense lawyer in Jacksonville for years. Ray and I opened our Jacksonville Criminal Defense Law Firm in 2007 after serving the community as public defenders for three years. Ray practices 100% criminal law. He represents people charged with felonies, misdemeanors, sex crimes, DUI's, drug crimes, driving crimes, theft crimes, domestic battery crimes, etc. Ray is an accessible criminal lawyer who practices with professionalism and vigor."

"If you are in need of legal representation, look no further than Ray Forbess. He was my first mentor when I was practicing under the law student practice act, and his guidance and leadership helped to shape me into the lawyer I am today. One of the main reasons that I became a criminal defense attorney was because of what Ray taught me-- both about the law and about defending constitutional rights. He is an excellent attorney, and I whole heartedly endorse his work."
