Michael Trerotola graduated from the law school of Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in June 2000, and was subsequently admitted to practice law in Florida in October 2000. Michael then went to work for a south Florida personal injury and civil litigation law firm, where he represented the seriously injured and plaintiffs in all matters relating to civil litigation. Within two years, Michael sought and gained admission into the Northern, Middle, and Southern U.S. Federal District Courts of Florida.
Michael is also a 25-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department, having served as a police officer, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and major. Following his admission to the Florida Bar, Michael represented fellow officers and members of their family who sought his representation in matters relating to marital and family law litigation.
The high divorce rate in high stress professions like law enforcement, coupled with Michael’s high profile within the police department, prompted many officers to seek his legal counsel and advice on this very personal level. They often expressed that they felt comfortable with “one of their own,” with someone who they knew had also experienced the anguish and life-altering turmoil that is divorce, and who knows personally the impact divorce has on the family’s children, quality of life, livelihood, and the effect the process can potentially have on one’s career.
Having remarried, in 2008 Michael relocated to Virginia in support of his wife’s career. After sitting for the Virginia State Bar in 2008, Michael was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia in October 2008, after which he founded his own marital and family law firm.
In 2012, Michael returned to Florida, sunshine and family, where he established a new marital and family law firm in Jacksonville, Florida, providing representation in Duval, St. Johns, and Clay counties. And because of his background in civil litigation and personal injury law, Michael also provides representation for his clients when they experience the misfortune of sustaining significant injury due to the negligence of others.
In 2013, Michael expanded his practice to now include appeals in both Florida and Virginia. So now, should your case not go well at the trial level, Michael can take your case up on appeal.
