Garrett Alan Dennis Sr.

Mr. Garrett Dennis is the most unprofessional attorney I have ever dealt with. He was hired to represent me in a real estate dispute, which we ultimately won — largely due to the extensive research, documentation, and evidence that I compiled and that he submitted to the court page for page. He was ...recommended by my property manager only because his office happened to be next door. From the very beginning, I sensed something was off in the way he conducted himself. He was responsive only when it was time to collect fees, including a second retainer that he requested and was paid. After that point, communication in any form became nearly nonexistent. He avoided calls, texts, and emails, even when my property manager attempted to intervene. Throughout the case, he repeatedly cited excuses involving paralegal issues, health problems, personal matters, long weekends, and other delays — all of which affected deadlines, deliverables, and the overall handling of my case. Although the judge ruled in my favor, Mr. Dennis has failed to fulfill his professional responsibility by not submitting the required paperwork to record the Final Judgment. His inaction has left me in a difficult position, as other attorneys are unwilling to take over the matter or are quoting fees higher than the amount awarded in the judgment. An official Florida Bar complaint has been opened (File No. 2026 30,347(7A)). He has not responded to their calls or correspondence either. Do not let him do to you what he has done to me — and to many others. Just do a few searches and you will see. He doesn't care....

Hired him to handle a relocation case. He didn’t file the contempt we paid him to file prior to court. He didn’t file our closing arguments after our hearing. He didn’t present any of the mountain of evidence we submitted for our hearing. The communication was practically non existent. In my opinion..., he was completely unprepared when he showed up ( late , twice) to our hearing. He didn’t tell me about the status conference after the hearing. I could have done a far better job representing myself. Use extreme caution if you choose to hire this person, I would recommend you don’t based off the horrible experience I had.

I hired Garrett A. Dennis (Law Office of Garrett A. Dennis, P.A. / Florida Coast Law, 2 Florida Park Dr, Palm Coast, FL 32137) to assist with my ongoing divorce, paying a $1,500 retainer. Unfortunately, Mr. Dennis performed no work whatsoever on my case, violating Rule 4-1.3 of The Florida Bar, which... requires attorneys to act with diligence and promptness in representing clients. His only explanation was that he needed to “check with his assistant,” who he claimed was in the emergency room, further breaching Rule 4-1.4 by failing to keep me informed about my case status. Despite repeated requests, Mr. Dennis refused to provide an itemized billing statement, as required under Rule 4-1.5, which mandates clear communication about fees and reasonable accounting of services. This also conflicts with the transparency expected under Florida Statute § 57.104. Additionally, he has refused to refund the unearned $1,500 retainer, a direct violation of Rule 4-1.16(d), which requires attorneys to refund advance payments for unearned fees upon termination of representation. This conduct also constitutes a deceptive practice under Florida Statute § 501.203(3) of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. When I pressed for accountability, Mr. Dennis dismissively stated he “wasn’t worried” about me filing a formal complaint, demonstrating unprofessional conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice under Rule 4-8.4. His actions reflect a lack of competence in client relations, as required by Rule 4-1.1, particularly egregious given my vulnerability as a stage 4 cancer patient recently discharged from the hospital, while also relocating my father with dementia from New York to Florida with my caretaker’s assistance. I trusted Mr. Dennis during an exceptionally difficult time, only to face stonewalling, excuses, and disregard for both my circumstances and the law. His behavior suggests possible exploitation of a vulnerable client, implicating Rule 4-8.4(c) regarding dishonesty or misrepresentation. In my opinion, this office lacks integrity, accountability, and respect for clients. I urge anyone considering hiring Garrett A. Dennis to protect themselves and seek an attorney who honors their ethical and legal obligations.
