A Different Experience

I worked with Ms. Heck for an auto accident as well and I found her to be trustworthy and competent. She communicated well and was able to sit down with me to review my papers. She was able to get me a settlement. Yes it was not as much as I WANTED but it was enough to cover my medical bills. That wa...s important to me. I heard about her through word of mouth and I am glad I did. I would recommend her.

Hid Things From Me

I agree with Karen who said she kept things from her. She did that with me also. I wish I had found reviews for her much sooner. I was not aware until just now that you could write a review for an attorney. We were involved in a bad car accident several years ago that was not our fault. She was fine... at first, I did not ask for more than I thought entitled to. I am not the type to sue just for the sake of it and did not go into this lightly. I was in severe pain during this time and felt she would fight for me when I did not have much of a voice of my own. I was wrong. A couple years later when I was finally healed enough I had to make a decision: do I go to court, which she said I would probably lose, or take the amount the insurance company offered, which was much, much less than I hoped for, but thought it was the best I could get. So I went in to her office to sign the final papers. I did not get to see her, although she was there, she had her clerk handle it. AFTER I signed I found out from the clerk, that the amount I actually would receive would be even less because I had to pay back my personal insurance company. A fact I was never made aware of. I was also not made aware of the fact that I had signed an agreement stating I would not pursue for any other damages should something go wrong farther down the road and require further medical attention. I was definitely not made aware of that. I would not have agreed to it. When I told the clerk of my surprise she took the paperwork to her, and I could not hear what was said, but the clerk came back out and said it was completed, and nothing could be done about it. Now, should I need it, I feel I would have to go looking for another attorney to "fix" what I signed because it was not explained properly to me at the time. I stupidly felt I could trust my attorney's offices explanation and did not read all the final papers I signed, but it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway, not being a legal expert, I would have had to depend on their explanation, which was really not in my favor.

Kept Things From Me

Yes,, I'd recommend her with conditions. She handled a settlement in an accident several years ago. I did not ask for anything more than I thought was fair, despite the other guy's million dollar claim. I was never told 2 very important things that would have affected this decision. The first was ...that I had to pay back my medical insurance company. Did not find that out until to late, and secondly, that I could neve go back and sue for more funds if I found I ever needed more surgery, unforseen complications etc. I don't remember how I finally found out about the insurance thing, but the other one the secretary told me AFTER I signed the final papers and it was to late, she said. Even though the ink wasn't even dry. By the time I got to my car, I had tears in my eyes.
