Michael Eric Hooper

Eric Hooper practices in the taxation section. His expertise lies in trusts and estate planning, corporate law, probate and administration of estates and trusts. Eric has extensive experience in most services needed by businesses, including the formation, organization and sale of business entities. Eric’s expertise also includes taxation, the creation, modification and termination of trusts, mergers and acquisitions, and contracts. Eric regularly assists in the preparation and filing of federal estate and gift tax returns.

After graduating from the United State Military Academy at West Point in 2000, Eric served as a combat infantry officer in Kosovo, Iraq and Korea. He received numerous medals and accommodations, including the Bronze star and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. Eric served in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Captain from 2000 through 2006. He received his Juris Doctor from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2009 and his L.L.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida in 2010.

Eric was one of four attorneys selected to serve as a Trust and Estates Fellow for the Real Property, Trust and Estate Section of the ABA in 2013. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at the Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University, where he teaches a course on the Taxation of Pass Through Entities.

Eric is a member of Dougherty Circuit Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the American Bar Association. Eric serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Southwest Georgia.
