John Allen Lawson

After graduating from Valdosta High School in 1984, I joined the U.S. Army.  I was stationed in Kentucky, Germany, and Colorado before being Honorably Discharged in 1989.  I then returned to Valdosta and attended Valdosta State University.  In three years, I graduated with dual degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice.  I was accepted in the Walter F. George School of Law in 1992 and graduated in 1995.  After passing the bar, I continued to practice in the middle Georgia area.  I was fortunate enough to live in the Ocmulgee Circuit and became the Solicitor General in Jones County, Georgia, from 2000 to 2010.  During that time, I prosecuted hundreds of cases for the county and implemented the first Pre-Trial Diversion Program for that court.  In 2010, I moved back home with my three small children and opened my own practice.  I have been a potential nominee for the State Court Judges Position here in Lowndes and currently advocate implementation of accountability courts for the Southern Judicial Circuit.  I have been lead counsel in dozens of jury trials.  Many of my cases have ranged from simple misdemeanor cases to felony murder defense.  I have also been lead counsel in several civil cases involving property disputes and personal injuries.  I am a family man with years of trial experience and pride myself on providing help to my clients.  As far as I know, I am one of the only attorneys that will provide my personal cell phone number to my clients so they may reach me when needed.
