Mr. Powell has acquired significant trial and courtroom experience in Georgia's courts. As lead counsel he has tried numerous cases and continues to represent businesses and individuals in cases that have a substantial impact on their livelihood. Mr. Powell has participated in contractual dispute litigation involving confidentiality agreements, covenants not to compete, trade secrets, non-solicitation agreements, computer theft, and unfair trade practices. He has participated in complex business litigation involving mult-million dollar claims and in one of his recent trials he served as lead counsel and obtained a favorable verdict for a local retailer. Mr. Powell also works with clients to identify strategic project goals and guides them through initial planning, contract negotiations, and project completion.

Mr. Powell works with companies in the areas of compliance, vendor & technology transactions, incident management, breach responses, litigation, and data monetization/big data. Patrick's legal experience includes working with healthcare providers (HIPAA/HITECH) to identify breaches, evaluate and execute their reporting requirements and implement processes to prevent security breaches in the future. He assists companies with cloud computing, developers and vendors, privacy compliance, and insured and uninsured data breach events.
Transactional
Patrick has developed significant experience in helping clients realize their business goals. In addition to conducting the due diligence that can accompany any deal, he has served his clients in numerous other ways, such as: forming holding companies and operating subsidiaries; preparing corporate and organizational documents suited to each client's individual needs; advising businesses on permit and licensure requirements; and assisting with the negotiation and drafting of various agreements.

Mr. Powell is committed to helping employers avoid, resolve and prevail in employment disputes involving the full range of employment and labor issues. This includes litigation in state and federal courts and the representation of employers before administrative agencies over claims including: discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodation, and state torts such as negligent supervision and hiring, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, defamation, invasion of privacy, and wrongful discharge allegations.
