My experience with her has been disappointing both as an attorney and, years later, as a judge. Over 15 years ago, she represented me in a case, and I left feeling that my interests were not properly advocated for. She refused to call several witnesses I believed were important and actually said s...he didn't want to go "t i t for tat." I felt that key evidence was never presented, and I ultimately lost confidence that my case was being fully represented. About three years ago, I was even contacted by a detective who asked if I would be willing to testify in a similar type of case to the one this same woman had represented me in, because the defendant had gone on to harm another person. I declined. I chose to protect my own sanity because neither she nor the system had truly helped me when I needed it. The detective told me he believed I should have won my original case, but I already knew that myself—I just didn't have a DA or anyone truly pushing to help me at the time. I had to vent a bit about that because, yes, I am still very frustrated about it. Recently, I appeared before her again in small claims court, this time with her serving as the judge. During the proceedings, I was surprised by what I perceived as a lack of familiarity with relatively common technology and technical issues. In my case, there appeared to be confusion regarding the difference between an Xbox console and a computer monitor, despite those distinctions being relevant to understanding the facts. I also observed similar confusion in other cases heard that day. Judges don't have to be experts in every subject, but they do need to understand the evidence presented or ask the questions necessary to fully understand it before making a decision. Based on my experiences, I did not leave with confidence that my case—or others that day—received that level of understanding or consideration. And yes, I am still upset about how things have played out over the years, but I also believe God will ultimately deal with those who do wrong to others.
