James Michael Spence

I am J. Michael Spence, an Augusta-area attorney and former Richmond County prosecutor with more than 35 years in practice. A lifelong Augusta resident, I have been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1990 and opened my firm in 1998. My office is in Martinez, and I represent clients in Augusta and surrounding communities.

My personal injury practice includes car wrecks, large truck accidents, and injuries involving impaired drivers. For personal injury representation: No attorney’s fee unless I recover compensation for you. Case expenses are addressed in the written agreement.

I also represent people facing felony and misdemeanor charges, DUI charges, and traffic citations. My background as a prosecutor informs my approach to criminal defense.

My family law practice includes divorce, child custody, legitimation, adoption, child support, modification, arrears, and enforcement and defense. I also handle juvenile matters, including criminal charges, traffic offenses, dependency proceedings, and school disciplinary tribunals.
