I represented a police officer charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery. The officer was working an off-duty job in an apartment complex in a bad part of town. The man then reached under his seat and came up holding what the officer thought was a gun. The officer fired one shot in self-defense. Unfortunately, the man was holding only a cell phone. After a week and a half long trial, the jury found the officer not guilty on all counts.
