Miguel Luciano Rodriguez

Miguel Luciano Rodriguez is an experienced attorney and legal advisor whose practice spans higher education, institutional governance, regulatory compliance, complex contracting, risk management, litigation, and personal injury law.

Miguel currently serves as Assistant General Counsel for the University of North Georgia, a public university in the University System of Georgia and one of the nation’s six federally designated Senior Military Colleges. In this role, he advises university leadership and operational units on a broad range of legal and strategic matters affecting a complex, multi-campus public institution.

His institutional practice includes contract drafting and negotiation, policy development, regulatory compliance, risk management, athletics, auxiliary services, intellectual property and licensing, real estate, student affairs, privacy, public records, sponsored activities, and matters involving the university’s Corps of Cadets. Miguel regularly collaborates with senior administrators and cross-functional teams to develop practical solutions that support institutional objectives while managing legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk.

Before entering higher-education counsel practice, Miguel built substantial experience representing individuals injured through the negligence of others. He founded Mountain Top Law in North Georgia and previously served as a senior attorney and Georgia business-unit leader for a high-capacity personal-injury firm. His work included automobile collisions, commercial trucking accidents, premises-liability matters, wrongful-death claims, insurance disputes, and other serious personal-injury cases.

Miguel’s approach to legal practice was shaped in part by his own experience as the victim of a serious automobile accident. That experience gave him a personal understanding of the medical, financial, and emotional difficulties individuals encounter after an injury. Throughout his plaintiff-side career, he emphasized direct communication, careful preparation, practical guidance, and determined advocacy.

Earlier in his career, Miguel worked as a law clerk in the Forsyth County Magistrate Court and as a criminal research analyst, experiences that strengthened his understanding of judicial decision-making, legal research, investigations, and evidence.

Miguel earned his Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida. He has presented on subjects including Georgia insurance law, punitive damages, estate planning, institutional compliance, and legal-risk management. He is admitted to practice in Georgia and remains an active member in good standing with no disciplinary history.
