Madeline Susan Wirt

Madeline has been practicing law in Gainesville for over 25 years.  Madeline was ranked first in her law school class at Georgia State throughout her entire law school career.  She started her legal career at King & Spalding in Atlanta, before she and her husband moved to Gainesville where she continued her law practice at the Whelchel Dunlap firm.

Madeline’s experience in representing business owners and management for more than 20 years includes most aspects of running a business such as drafting and negotiating business contracts; drafting and enforcing employee handbooks and personnel policies; I-9 compliance and other business immigration matters; defense of EEOC, DOL and other employee claims; FLSA wage and hour compliance; FMLA/ADA/USERRA compliance; drafting and enforcing restrictive covenants such as non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure provisions; and regulatory compliance specific to the client’s particular business. Madeline is a frequent speaker in the area of employment law. Madeline also has experience in the sale and/or acquisition of a business, having represented both buyers and sellers in the contract negotiation and due diligence process.
