The origins of the law firm lie in the varying experiences of its erstwhile partners ranging from Notre Dame to the University of Michigan to Harvard University. Since the time of its genesis the partners have taken different paths but the senior most partner has remained steadfast to the practice and worked its transformation into the new firm of Merritt & Merritt. Since completing education at Morehouse College in Atlanta, the University of Miami in Florida and law school at Harvard University, Lorenzo C. Merritt, the senior partner and elder firm member, has crisscrossed the entire spectrum of legal practice. This has included high level personal injury claims: auto accidents, workers’ compensation, and wrongful death claims. Additionally, there has been a successful and active practice in criminal defense, domestic relations (divorce, adoption, juvenile work), probate work, property and title work. Beyond this, the firm has had a successful appellate practice winning appeals both in criminal law and in workers’ compensation. And while there is that capability, the foremost capacity of the firm lies in litigation. We are prepared to file suit and to proceed to trial on any meritorious action. This would include but not be limited to road wrecks, auto/truck collisions, medical malpractice, fire claims, slip and falls. We are also equipped to handle DUI; domestic relations; cases for restraining orders and injunctions; and Social Security Disability.
