Zeng v. Lu

This was the wrongful death civil trial resulting from the murder of Michelle Lu on July 26, 2009 at her home at 197 S. Rosemead, in Pasadena, by her husband James Lu. Mr. Lu struck her in the head an ... d face 19 times with a hatchet and killed her. He then attacked Ji Zeng, son of Michelle Lu, and attempted to kill him. Ji Zeng was able to fight off the attack and escape. James Lu was convicted of the first degree murder of Michelle Lu and the first degree attempted murder of Ji Zeng and is serving life in prison. Mr. Wallace was lead counsel in the civil trial, where the jury returned a verdict in the total amount of $3.6 million dollars. The jury awarded $3 million for past and future loss resulting from the wrongful death and awarded $600,000 for the past and future emotional distress of Ji Zeng.
