Ellis Chen-Mei Liu

Ellis Liu is a highly regarded Georgia personal injury attorney who brings more than a decade of legal experience, leadership, and compassion to his work at Montlick Injury Attorneys. Licensed to practice law in all Georgia state and federal courts, Ellis is known for his analytical approach, strong work ethic, and commitment to helping injured clients secure the justice and compensation they deserve.

Ellis distinguished himself early in his law career by being named Young Lawyer of the Year by the Atlanta Bar Association; an Atlanta’s Who’s Who: 30 Under 30 by the Atlanta Business Chronicle; and a Super Lawyers Rising Star for many years.

Before joining Montlick, Ellis worked as an attorney in the insurance industry, representing some of the largest corporations in the world, including restaurants, retail stores, rideshare companies, trucking carriers, and medical providers. That experience gave him an inside understanding of how large companies and insurers defend claims. He quickly realized the challenges people face when trying to obtain fair compensation, which inspired him to use his skills to advocate for injured individuals instead of big corporations. Today, he is proud to be part of a compassionate legal team that values integrity, hard work, and open communication with clients.

Ellis has a long history of standing up for what’s right. He has served in every branch of Georgia’s government and drafted and lobbied for a bill to protect minors from felony prosecution under the state’s obscenity laws – a measure that passed in 2013. He began building the foundation for his legal career at the University of Georgia before earning his law degree from Emory University School of Law. After law school, Ellis gained valuable insight clerking in a fellowship program for the Honorable Steve C. Jones of the United States District Court.

Deeply engaged in the Atlanta legal community, Ellis has held several leadership roles within the Atlanta Bar Association, including serving on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee and as President of the Council of Younger Lawyers. A prolific writer and frequent speaker, Ellis has published articles and presented continuing legal education seminars on topics ranging from litigation strategy to access to justice. These experiences reflect his commitment to serving others, supporting young lawyers, and using the law to make a meaningful impact in his community.

A native Atlantan, Ellis enjoys exploring the city, volunteering with Trees Atlanta, and spending time on the Beltline with his family and their dog. Guided by the Golden Rule, he strives to treat every client with the same care and respect he would want for his own loved ones.
