Barbara Latimer Jennings

My experience with Barbara Jennings was very negative. In November of 2005, I was driving up to Detroit MI from Los Angeles CA to visit relatives. I stopped off for a few beers along the way in Georgia, and that's when my troubles began. I was charged with Felony Hit and Run (I ran into a highway sig...n on the side of the road), and Open Container. I was facing jail time, heavy fines, and the loss of my CDL because I was a commercial truck driver. I hired attorney, Barbara Jennings, whom I paid a hefty retainer after speaking with her over the phone about my case. She was totally incompetent and unprofessional. Her poor communication skills and legal representation really hurt my case, and was a huge setback. I was vacationing in Shanghai, China at the time, and she failed to appear at a calendar call to set a trial date, as we had agreed. Because she never appeared on my behalf to address the court, a warrant was issued for my arrest. To make matters worse, she never again contacted me, or attempted to address this matter after the arrest warrant. I recently closed this case with an excellent attorney who was able to get the charges reduced and dismissed based on several personal accomplishments, years of sobriety, and my continuing professional work in substance abuse. I didn't even have to fly back to GA, as my plea was accepted in absentia, and closed. Due to my unfortunate experience with Ms. Jennings, I am unable to offer a positive review or recommendation.

She talks a good game, but when push came down to shove, she didn't win. Despite the party bringing a criminal charge having no evidence and my having any reasonable expected evidence, she seemed to be expecting to lose and did! The county prosecuter spent incredible amounts of County resources and p...aid fast and loose with the law. For instance, I was served with an uncompleted search warrant, goods unrelated to my case were conficated and the police did not allow Ms. Jennings to be present during the search, holding her in her car a few hundred feet away while they ransacked my house. While Ms. Jennings mentioned the uncompleted warrant in Court, she appeared not to feel it was worth pursuing when the Judge did not throw out the evidence and the actions of the police were not even mentioned. To her credit once the acusing party had gotten my dog (they killed it after three weeks), she did keep them from acevding their real goal, swindling me out of my house, cars and what little money I still had after paying her and other attorneys for their "help". I should also point out that she did assure me that in Georgia that you are "guilty by accusation", despite the retoric said by the Judges.
