I had a Simple Battery case with a punishment of 10 days in jail for 2nd offense & I had no such offenses before. At time of hearing I was detained 32 days, attorney Graves did not advise me that I had already served the Max time for the case & should just plead guilty to the misdemeanor. He also did... not advise me that I had the right to waive Preliminary Hearing & that the judge is supposed to inform me of that right. It is in the Magistrate court rules that he must inform defendant of right to waive hearing. Worst of all he did not advise me that going through with the hearing could expose me to a felony. In other words, there was no advice that the hearing could result in case being elevated to a felony Aggravated Assault. That is what happened with his representation. I went from misdemeanor simple battery to aggravated assault 5 to 20 years punishment! I never even met attorney Graves before the court date as he was a court appointed attorney from a private firm. They would not let me go to the law library on my own & I got no advice from attorney Graves. Save yourself some time & money & go with a skilled law firm not some hack who puts in no effort! I'd select zero stars not one if that were an option!
