Stephanie Catanese Iasiello

Steph Iasiello founded Maverick Justice Group after a career that defies the usual law school → big firm pipeline.

Before becoming an attorney, Steph earned a PhD in English Literature from Emory University, with research focused on the Literature of the African Diaspora and Critical Race Theory. For years, they taught college-level humanities courses inside Georgia state prisons.

Steph graduated from Georgia State University College of Law in December 2023 and went directly into the Flint Judicial Circuit Office of the Public Defender, where they represented indigent clients facing serious felony charges. The work was demanding and it confirmed what years of anti-carceral work had already taught them: people deserve zealous, honest representation, and most don't get it.

Steph is admitted to practice in Georgia and is an active member of the Georgia Bar, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Bar Association.
