James Anthony Eidson

I hired Mr. Eidson on a contingency basis. He required a rather large retainer, unusual for contingency cases, but we accommodated his request. After providing him this large retainer he worked on the case for 9 months via phone calls and letters to the opposing side. I repeatedly asked him to fil...e the lawsuit and set up the necessary depositions, but he continually gave me excuses as to why he was waiting. After 9 months he called me to inform that he would not work on the case any longer, and advised me directly to hire another attorney. Though he didn't do the job he was hired to do, he kept the entire retainer without explanation except to say that he had "worked hard" on my case. In addition, he never kept any records of his time, and excused this as acceptable and within the Bar Associations standards. After 3 years of requests for him to return my retainer he returned 1/2 of it only. I would not recommend this attorney to anyone; he was responsible for other unethical actions that I cannot go into here.
