Nora Lafaye Polk

Adrienne Ashby and Nora Polk founded Ashby & Polk, LLC in July 2007 after several years of practicing law in the public interest. Ashby & Polk attorneys have nearly twenty years of combined legal experience. The firm has represented clients in family law cases in the superior courts of Fulton County, DeKalb County, Gwinnett County, Cobb County, Clayton County, and Henry County.  Ashby & Polk attorneys spent over fourteen years representing low-income and vulnerable clients with competence, compassion and zeal. 

Partner Nora Polk has been featured in several local legal publications, including the Atlanta Bar Magazine. She has also appeared on television as a legal expert for the local news and as a guest speaker on Layman’s Lawyer. Before moving to Georgia to work with Atlanta Legal Aid, Mrs. Polk briefly worked in criminal defense with the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office in Cincinnati, Ohio. She began working for the needs of the indigent, working poor, and mentally ill when she began her career at Atlanta Legal Aid as an AmeriCorps fellow. Mrs. Polk next worked with people living with HIV, AIDS, and cancer as a staff attorney in the Health Law unit of Atlanta Legal Aid. She maintained a general civil practice with a heavy emphasis on family law and domestic abuse while working as the supervising attorney for the Gwinnett County office of Atlanta Legal Aid before starting Ashby & Polk.

            Ms. Polk is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, and the Atlanta Bar Association.  Ms. Polk was also a member of the founding class of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division’s Leadership Academy.
