The call from the investigator is either a fraud, OR the creditor filed suit against you for fraud and won. Either way, you need to deal with this....

You can file a complaint for declaratory judgment to have a judge decide if they were paid, but you should be able to find a way to get it settled...

Make the deal with them over the phone and they will send you a consent judgment to sign with the terms.
