DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE I MADE...DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!!!

I hired ALEX HAIT for a domestic matter that Mr. Hait assured me would take aprox 40-60 days to resolve and aprox $4500. Not a complicated case. Almost a year later and a bill in excess of $16,000!!! I fired them! They get you in by offering a lower retainer than most and work out a monthly pa...yment plan ($500mo) which sounds great until your case NEVER ends. All the while they are auto deducting from your checking EVERY month!!! (whether anything is done on your case or not) I hired a new attorney and my case was resolved within 6 wks! You never know who is working on your case. I hired Alex Hait and he was completely ABSENT in my case except signing a few documents. I never heard from him directly after the day I hired him. He handed everything off to other attorney's, Lizz Kuhn, Melody Swilling and a legal assistant. I NEVER knew who was doing what on my case, or who would represent me in court. They would just tell me that one of them would be there. That was very stressful to me. The communication was exhausting and EXPENSIVE! They encourage email as the primary form of communication and want you to include practically everyone in the office on the emails. So you may get an email response from everyone and BE CHARGED for all that respond, not just who you primarily sent it to. Then when you get your invoice you have to go back and try to account for all the email charges. When you are dealing with so many people it is VERY time consuming to audit. The billing invoices did not come within 30 days as it states in the contract. They would come every 6-8wks or whenever they got around to sending it. By the time I did get it, it was much harder to recollect what did happen during that time frame for the charges incurred. They tell you, you have only 10 days to file a Dispute In Charges. I submitted a Dispute in Charges over 3 months ago and I STILL have NOT gotten a response from them or a revised statement. It was the most stressful thing I have ever experienced in my life. I felt I had NO CONTROL with what was happening. At NO point did I feel as though they were working for me. Once I signed the contract with them I felt completely dependent and helpless with my case. They are banking on the fact that most of their clients do not have the resources to fire them and rehire another attorney and start the process all over. Finally, I had NO CHOICE. I had to STOP the bleeding. They were sucking me dry in monthly fee's and running up a bill that was simply unethical. Example: Charged me $1400 for TRAVEL from their office to the courthouse 15 minutes away. And then charged additional fees for being at court that day. Keep in mind I was NOT the only client he was representing at court that day. Alex Hait was there representing 4 or 5 other clients as well as myself. My case was bumped off the calender. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HAIT, Eichelzer, & KUHN. Get references from previous clients before you HIRE anyone!! I hope this keeps someone from making the same mistake I made.

I am not able to respond directly to this person's comments as the attorney/client privilege survives the conclusion of our representation. Our firm prides itself of our communication. We are available almost 24 hours per day, 7 days per week by email. We are constantly in communication with our clients including at night and on weekends. WE NEVER guarantee our clients a result. In fact, in our contract, we state that there are no guarantees. This is because we are dealing with human beings and cannot guarantee how a judge or jury will look at things. With regards to cost, the cost depends on multiple issues. It depends on the neediness of the client. Do you require constant updates and reassurances that we are there for you? If you do, we will be happy to talk to you EVERY DAY. And we have clients that for peace of mind need this. Or are you able to handle your emotions on your own. Divorce and custody battles especially are very, very emotional and heart wrenching. Especially when the other side is only interested in money and not working with the other parent. We put our clients on small, monthly payments because we know most families cannot afford the cost for a divorce and we work with our clients. If a client is not satisfied with a result, call me and come in and let me know what you are upset about. I am always available for our clients, and if you can't come in because of your work schedule, then call me or email me. We are ALWAYS available. Check the other reviews we have and you will see that most of our clients are very satisfied with our work. We represent mothers and fathers, husbands and wives as well as grandparents. If you have a family law matter, give us a call or email me at [email protected] and see if we are the right fit for you.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
