Lee Barrett Carter

Lee B. Carter is a founding partner of the firm. Lee is a problem-solver, trusted by clients from a broad range of backgrounds. He has successfully tried multi-million dollar contract disputes when reasonable settlements were not available; he has pursued and favorably resolved RICO allegations against Fortune 50 companies; he has navigated complex transactions for owners in various industries. In each, Lee is focused on finding the best solution for the client.

Lee’s practice focuses primarily on representing businesses and business owners in their complex commercial disputes. He regularly handles shareholder disputes; breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and RICO claims; and various other business disputes, including cybersecurity losses, unwinding failed transactions, and restrictive covenant claims, in both state and federal courts. Lee is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Business Litigation.

Lee also regularly advises companies and their boards, executives, and owners in corporate governance matters, employment issues, and risk mitigation measures. His clients operate in a variety of industries, including health care, construction, manufacturing, flooring, and real estate.

Prior to joining Davis Lucas Carter, Lee practiced in Rome as Brinson Askew Berry, in Atlanta at King & Spalding LLP in its Business Litigation Practice Group. There, he represented clients in significant business disputes filed across the country.

Lee is a cum laude graduate of The University of Georgia School of Law and a magna cum laude graduate of The University of Georgia with Honors, Phi Beta Kappa.

Lee is married to Cassidy Carter. They have one daughter and one son and are members of Second Avenue Baptist Church, where Lee serves as a Deacon. Lee is also an Eagle Scout.
