My son accepted a plea deal and the Judge asked him if he was satisfied with his attorney he said no. The judge then could not accept the plea. I was not understanding what just happened I asked Ms Copes. Her reply was yo son is facing 31 years in prison because he was not happy with how I represente...d him. While shaking her head and her finger. . I then said back to her that is true she never called him back. Instead of being professional and saying in non ghetto way. She then followed me out of the courtroom and knowing how angry I was and kept arguing back and forth with me instead of trying to show a little compassion. I've never been treated that way and will not tolerate it. I'm not one of those parents that thinks my child is perfect in no kind of way. I believe everyone has the right to be treated fair and with respect. This attorney is getting paid for doing nothing. Just because your court appointed does not mean you don't have to do your job and follow the law and be professional. I can't believe Douglas County would allow someone like her to step foot in a court room.
