Biography
Leanne DeFoor practices law part-time as Of Counsel at Skipper Law, LLC, which is the office of the County Attorney for Paulding County, Georgia. Her practice consists primarily of representing the various agencies within Paulding County's government on local government matters, as well as general legal practice. She is licensed in the state of Georgia and is also admitted to practice before the Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Leanne registered as a Mediator with Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution in 2006.
Leanne works full-time as a business law professor at the University of West Georgia, where she joined the faculty in August 2008. She teaches Business Law, Environmental Law, Healthcare Law and Management, Quality Assurance Management, Human Resource Management, and Business Communication in the Richards College of Business. She has presented research at international conferences all around the world. Leanne serves on the Faculty Senate and Chairs the university's Budget Committee and its Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. She has received numerous awards during her time on the faculty including SGA's Faculty Member of the Year (twice), Sigma Kappa's Top Professor Award, and multiple teaching, research, service, and development awards. Leanne also serves as Administrative Director of the Georgia WebMBA, which was recently ranked by US News and World Report as the #4 online MBA program in the nation.
Prior to transitioning to academia, Leanne practiced as an Associate for six years at McKenna, Long, and Aldridge, LLP (now Dentons US, LLP), an AmLaw 100 large international law firm in downtown Atlanta, where she began as a Summer Associate. In her law practice, she represented large commercial clients in a variety of business litigation matters. Her primary practice areas included business law, employment law, and commercial litigation.
