Biography
Joe Farrell’s legal journey began with a BA in English from the University of Chicago and continued with a cum laude JD from Georgia State University College of Law in 1997. After two years running his own practice and seventeen years as a litigation partner, he now heads the Litigation Section and functions as general counsel at O’Kelley and Sorohan. His real estate litigation portfolio encompasses boundary, easement, owner-contractor, developer, landlord-tenant, and HOA disputes, including representation of national leasing corporations. On the commercial side, he advocates for small-to-mid-sized businesses in arbitration and court over contracts, noncompetes, and buy-sell agreements, and handles collections and financial institution defenses, notably serving the FDIC during the 2007–2008 crisis. Joe is admitted to the all state courts in Georgia, all Georgia federal district courts, the 11th Circuit Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court. As a former officer in the U.S. Air Force, Joe also chaired the State Bar Real Estate Section’s Pro Bono Section, securing legal aid for veterans. He also chaired the Real Estate Section of the Atlanta Bar Association Real Estate Section.
