Catherine Elizabeth Abreu

Catherine E. Abreu is an attorney with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Catherine graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia College & State University in 2015 with a B.A. in Political Science and minors in Business Administration and Criminal Justice. After completing her undergraduate studies, Catherine attended the Georgia State University College of Law where she graduated in 2018.

In her first year of law school, Catherine interned for several Forsyth County Magistrate Court judges where she observed numerous court proceedings and conducted extensive research on various criminal and civil litigation issues. Catherine also served as a Graduate Research Assistant for a College of Law professor and Georgia State University’s law library where she further refined her legal research skills. She participated in Georgia State University’s Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic where she provided legal assistance to those dealing with outstanding tax liabilities. Here, she found a passion and a strong sense of purpose in helping clients reach a positive outcome in their case. In her second year, Catherine interned for several family law attorneys and quickly developed a strong interest in family law. She also served as Treasurer for the Georgia State University Family Law Society for the 2017-2018 academic year. During her time in law school, Catherine accumulated over 150 hours of pro bono service and graduated with highest distinction.

Catherine currently resides in Cumming, Georgia. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, going on walks with her Golden Retriever, watching college football, and spending time with family and friends.
