Robert J. Hulsey

Before joining the City of Roswell as Assistant City Attorney in 2005, Robert J. Hulsey practiced law as Senior Counsel with the law firm of McCalla, Raymer, Padrick, Cobb, Nichols & Clark, LLC in Roswell with an emphasis on civil litigation and appellate practice.  Admitted to the Georgia bar in 1980, Hulsey was staff attorney at the trial level for Judge Luther Alverson of Fulton Superior Court and at the appellate level for Judge Marion T. Pope, Jr. of the Georgia Court of Appeals.  He practiced with the firm of Long, Weinberg, Ansley and Wheeler in Atlanta, Georgia and served as litigation counsel with Contel Corporation in Atlanta.  Hulsey was a partner in the firm of Bach, Hulsey & Carver in Alpharetta, Georgia before joining McCalla Raymer.  

            An honors graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law of Mercer University, where he served as Chairman of the Moot Court Board, as well as a member of Law Review, Hulsey is active in the North Fulton Bar Association, in which he has served as a Director from 1986 through 2006, as President in 1991-1992 and in 2004-2005, and as Editor of the Newsletter from 1993 through 2005.  He has published articles in the Mercer Law Review, the Georgia Journal of Legal History and “Verdict,” the Journal of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.  He was the primary author of Martindale-Hubbell’s Georgia Law Digest from 1999 through 2005, which publishes an annual survey of Georgia law.  Hulsey also served as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Roswell from 2000-2005.

Hulsey is a veteran who served as a voice intercept analyst (German) with the United States Army Security Agency from 1972-1975, with two years’ duty at Field Station Berlin in Germany.  He lives in Roswell with his wife, Dickie, and has three grown step-children and three step-grandchildren.
