Attorney Atkins is a past President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives, and served on its Board of Directors for over ten years and is a current member of the Council of Past Presidents.  Atkins is a member of the American Association of Justice (AAJ), the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (GTLA), the American Bar Association (ABA), and the Atlanta Bar Association.

Atkins is licensed to practice law before all the courts of Georgia and the federal district courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.  Attorney Atkins was sworn into the U.S. Supreme Court in a special admissions ceremony hosted by JusticeStephen Gerald Breyer and Justice Ruth Joan Bader Ginsburg. Atkins is a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Appellate Practice section of the State Bar of Georgia which sponsors continuing legal education with partnerships between attorneys and judges. Atkins is also admitted to practice law in various other district courts and court of appeal around the country including the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Ninth Circuits.

Attorney Atkins has devoted a substantial amount of time and resources to charitable causes involving assisting persons affected by Brain Injuries, Bipolar Disorder, Cancer, Crohn’s & Colitis, Diabetes, Kidney Disease, Mental Retardation & Autism, Multiple Sclerosis, and severe Spinal Injuries.  In 2009, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society named Attorney Atkins as one of 77 corporate leaders to its inaugural MS Leadership Class for her work for the welfare and well-being of others.

Attorney Atkins believes in leading life to one’s full potential and giving back to the community.  She enjoys traveling and challenges.  In 2010, she trekked to Mt. Everest, Nepal with a group of physicians. By far, her greatest joy is her son who is  student at Stanford Univeristy in California.  In June 2011, Atkins was profiled as one of Atlanta’s most Fabulous Over Forty citizens by Best Self Atlanta Magazine.  Atkins knows people often benefit from a hand up rather a hand out.  She regularly volunteers in the community.
