also known as Meg Hatfield, Meghan Hatfield Yanacek
Before switching her practice to speak on behalf of injured plaintiffs, whether victims of medical malpractice or harmed by another’s negligence, Meg Hatfield Yanacek spent more than a decade defending medical malpractice, personal injury, premise liability, and mass tort\class action lawsuits brought against corporations and individuals. She also has experience in healthcare regulatory issues. During her time on the defense, Meg received a number of recognitions and awards for her achievements, including being repeatedly recognized for her proficiency in healthcare litigation. Her extensive experience in all stages of litigation and her in-depth knowledge of medicine provides her with a unique insight into litigation strategy on both sides of the “v”; an insight that will help her clients achieve the justice they deserve.
A direct descendent of Devil Anse Hatfield of the infamous Hatfield & McCoy feud, Meg was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. She subsequently graduated from the University of Maryland with a background in government and politics, as well as in physiology and neurobiology. After working a brief time on Capitol Hill, Meg went on to receive both her Juris Doctorate and Master's Degree in Public Policy (with an emphasis on health policy) from the University of Maryland, graduating cum laude with several awards in leadership and oral advocacy. She is currently barred in Georgia, Maryland, District of Columbia, West Virginia, and Tennessee (pending swear-in) (as well as numerous federal courts including the Supreme Court of the United States).
Throughout her career, Meg has been very involved in numerous organizations, including serving on the leadership committees for a number of local bar associations, healthcare associations, and nationally recognized legal-centered organizations. She has a special interest in presenting and educating attorneys and non-attorneys on issues central to both the legal and healthcare systems.
Meg lives in Marietta, and she has three school-aged children. She loves the outdoors, particularly spending time near mountains and lakes, and musical theater. She is a major hockey and soccer fan, so do not be surprised if you see her wearing her Washington Capitals, Atlanta United or Arsenal gear. Although she has been lucky enough to become a successful trial attorney, her chosen football teams have not been as fortunate. Go Jets!
