I started college when I was 38 years old. I had two young children and was a practicing court reporter. After I graduated from college, I entered law school and received my J.D. when I was 47 years old. Prior to becoming a lawyer, I had been a legal secretary, a paralegal assistant, and then a court reporter. While I was a court reporter, I reported in criminal court systems and found the area of the law fascinating. I went to college and law school for the sole purpose of becoming a lawyer that specializes in the criminal justice area. In fact, my undergraduate degree at Florida State University was in Criminal Justice/Criminology, where I graduated number one in my class with a GPA of 3.98. I have also served as an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University, where I taught Ethics in Criminal Justice for six semesters.
